If you're tired of those frown lines and droopy forehead skin and have decided to pursue a brow lift surgery, then you'll probably want to know about the recovery process.

After a successful surgery you should be up and walking since the procedure is done on local anesthetic. If you opted for a hospital procedure with general anesthesia then you'll have to stay overnight. Either way, you probably will want someone to drive you home.

The first few days will require ample rest. You should avoid any sort of activity that gets your blood pressure up. Numbness and discomfort are common symptoms in the regions near the incision. Patients are not advised to use any sort of skin irritant like dyes, tints, and skin care products at least for a few days. You should be able to wash your hair right away if you wish. When sleeping, it's a good idea to keep your head up and elevated to allow drainage from the head.

By the end of the first week you should be able to go to the surgeon's office for a post-op examination. He or she will take a look at your healing progress and also remove the stitches that are remaining. If all is well then you should also be able to go to work after the week is over.

As time goes on, you may notice hair loss or hair thinning around the incisions. That's normal. The numbness and discomfort should subside, but may be replaced by an incessant itchiness. That's a regular part of growing back any nerve damage in the scalp.

After a month or two you should be fully healed and ready to resume full physical activity. The results of the brow lift are not permanent, however. The skin and muscles will continue to loosen with age and the maximum duration of a brow lift is considered to be about ten years.

At that point, you may consider having another brow lift, and perhaps some other facial procedures like a face lift, liposuction, and chin implants. All of these are common additions to a brow lift surgery.
